Honest Minutes Privacy Policy
Short version: Honest Minutes collects no data. There is no account, no server, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. What you write stays on your device. Game Center is optional and run by Apple.
Honest Minutes is an iPhone and iPad app published by Alexandru Struta, an individual developer based in Romania (“we”, “us”).
1. What the app stores, and where
Your daily pages, the minutes you have typed, your goals and your settings are stored only on your device, in the app's own storage. A small summary (today's minutes, goal and streak, never your text) is shared with the app's widgets through a storage area on your device that only Honest Minutes can read.
2. What leaves your device
Nothing, unless you choose it:
- Export: if you export your pages, the Markdown file goes wherever you send it from the share sheet, under that destination's own policy.
- Game Center: only if you sign in (see section 5).
3. Data collection
We do not collect, receive, sell or share any personal data or usage data. The app contains no third-party code: no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs. It does not use your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone (dictation is handled by Apple's keyboard, and the app only notes that dictation is in use so that it can pause the clock).
4. Purchases
Honest Minutes Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details or Apple Account information. The app only asks the App Store whether Pro is unlocked.
5. Game Center
Honest Minutes has optional Apple Game Center leaderboards and achievements. Nothing is shared unless you choose to: the app signs you in to Game Center only when you tap Sign in to Game Center in Settings. After that, it sends two numbers worked out on your device: your best streak and your total minutes written, plus your progress towards five achievements. Your writing is never sent.
Game Center is Apple's service. When you use it, Apple processes your Game Center player ID, nickname, avatar, scores and achievements, and shows them to other players on the leaderboards, under the Apple Privacy Policy. We do not receive, store or sell this information. You can sign out or change who sees your profile in the Settings app › Game Center. If you never sign in, your streak and minutes stay only on your device.
6. Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled locally on your device. No push server is involved, and the app works fully without notifications.
7. Backups
If you use iCloud or computer backups for your device, Apple may include the app's data in those backups, under Apple's privacy policy. Honest Minutes itself does not sync anything.
8. Keeping and deleting your data
Your pages stay on your device until you delete them. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on a server. Game Center data is held by Apple; manage it in the Settings app › Game Center.
9. Children
The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
